Lime Microsystems Welcomes mimik technology to the LimeNET Ecosystem

"We're pleased to work with Lime Microsystems to extend the benefits of mimik's proven technology to support next generation wireless broadband solutions," says Siavash Alamouti, chief executive of edge cloud specialist mimik technology and its entry into the growing LimeNET ecosystem.

November 14, 2018 – Lime Microsystems is proud to report a partnership with decentralised cloud expert mimik technology to bring the company’s edge cloud platform and software development kit (SDK) to the LimeNET ecosystem.

The LimeNET ecosystem combines all-in-one base stations powered by Lime Microsystems’ field programmable radio frequency (FPRF) technology and general-purpose processing (GPP) hardware with a distributed software ecosystem, allowing for the deployment of radio-based applications in just a few mouse-clicks. This vision ties in perfectly with mimik technology’s cloud decentralisation mission, in which edge devices – now including the LimeNET family – can be quickly turned into cloud servers.

“We’re pleased to welcome mimik technology to the LimeNET community to support our mission in creating new radio access network technology for greater flexibility and lower development costs. Lime has decentralized radio access networks – creating base stations at the edge of the network – and it is crucial to have a partner that does the same for cloud. We found that partner in mimik,” says Ebrahim Bushehri, Lime Microsystems chief executive, of the partnership. “As we increase bandwidth and lower latency on the radio side for 5G, it is important to ensure that this effort is not compromised due to the limitations of the cloud infrastructure. As such, we are creating an end-to-end solution with a minimum amount of backhaul bandwidth requirements. mimik’s edge cloud platform keeps communication local and minimises backhaul bandwidth usage making it ideal for rural small cell deployments.”

“We’re pleased to work with Lime Microsystems to extend the benefits of mimik’s proven technology to support next generation wireless broadband solutions,” adds Siavash Alamouti, mimik technology chief executive. “mimik’s decentralised cloud platform will lower latency and cloud hosting costs for developers while improving data privacy for cloud-based applications. Using our edge cloud technology, we reduce backhaul needs and can potentially provide cost efficient coverage in areas with little existing backhaul infrastructure. We see great synergy with Lime’s mission to democratise cellular and wireless connectivity by leveraging the power of edge devices, and expect even greater cooperation between the two organizations going forward.”
