Lime Microsystems, MobiledgeX to Demonstrate LimeNET CrowdCell Edge Cloud Capabilities at TIP Summit 2019

Guildford UK, November 12th 2019 – Lime Microsystems is pleased to confirm its attendance at the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Summit 2019 in Amsterdam on November 13th-14th, where it will demonstrate real-world use-cases for its LimeNET CrowdCell open small cell networking solution using MobiledgeX’s Edge-Cloud platform.

The TIP Summit brings together those in the telecommunications industry who believe in the benefits of openness and interconnection rather than siloed black-box solutions that have dominated the industry in the past. Attendees will witness and experience live demonstrations of the LimeNET CrowdCell platform. A range of industry partners will showcase how their software can be used with the well-established LimeNET CrowdCell solution to bring computing to the edge of the network to address a wide variety of real-world use cases.

MobiledgeX’s Edge-Cloud platform will be demonstrated at the event, harnessing the combined edge-compute and software-defined radio (SDR) capabilities of the LimeNET CrowdCell to provision and deploy a facial recognition application which compares both edge- and public-cloud infrastructure. As a live application demonstration, the Edge-Cloud system will also highlight how the LimeNET CrowdCell can reduce latencies even on current-generation cellular networks to bring new use-cases to market while providing a path to next-generation connectivity solutions including 5G.

The demonstration software has been released ahead of the event under an Apache 2.0 open-source licence, and is available via the MobiledgeX’s GitHub code repository now. No prior experience will be required to participate in the demo, however.

Interested parties can email Lime Microsystems for more information, or read more about MobiledgeX’s Edge-Cloud platform on the company’s website, while attendees at the conference will find Lime at Booth PG11.

About Lime Microsystems: Lime Microsystems specialises in field programmable RF (FPRF) transceivers, SDR platforms and ecosystem technology for the next generation of wireless broadband systems. These products offer an unprecedented level of configurability and allow system designers to create wireless communication networking equipment that can be set and reconfigured to run on any wireless communications frequency and mobile standard.

The LimeNET CrowdCell, created as part of the Telecom Infra Project's CrowdCell small-cell gateway initiative, combines Lime's SDR and ecosystem technologies into a one-box device combining software-defined 4G LTE capabilities with general-purpose processing to enable a new class of low-latency, high-performance cellular network applications.

About MobiledgeX: MobiledgeX is creating a marketplace of edge resources and services that will connect developers with the world's largest mobile networks to power the next generation of applications and devices. The company is committed to enabling completely new and immersive experiences not possible without edge services like those powering its customers today acrossEurope, North America, and Asia.

The company’s Edge-Cloud R1.0 platform enables application containers to be deployed with the same simplicity as over-the-top, hyperscale cloud providers. At runtime, MobiledgeX Edge-Cloud R1.0 spins up the containers on-demand in edge cloud locations (also known as “cloudlets”) that optimally fulfill the needs of the desired application and user quality of experience. Example edge use cases from XR to robotics are showcased in MobiledgeX’s use case library.
