Lime Microsystems, Nextcloud to Demonstrate LimeNET CrowdCell Edge Computing Capabilities at TIP Summit 2019
Guildford UK, November 8th 2019 – Lime Microsystems is pleased to announce its attendance at the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Summit 2019 in Amsterdam on November 13th-14th, where it will be demonstrating real-world use-cases centred around its LimeNET CrowdCell and open small cell networking platform using Nextcloud’s cloud-powered productivity platform.
Lime's presence at the TIP Summit, which brings together those in the telecommunications industry who believe in the benefits of openness and interconnection rather than the siloed black-box solutions that have dominated in the past, will include live demonstrations of the LimeNET CrowdCell platform. With the hardware now well established, a range of industry partners will be showcasing how their software can be used with the LimeNET CrowdCell to bring computing to the edge of the network and in doing so solve a variety of real-world problems.
The open-source Nextcloud on-premises cloud-powered storage, communications, and productivity platform will be on show at the event, showing LimeNET CrowdCell platforms hosting software that had previously required communication to a remote server, introducing latency as well as increasing costs. The Nextcloud server will be running directly on the general-purpose processor of the LimeNET CrowdCell.
This combination of Lime's proven open hardware and software with the Nextcloud client-server package will be shown to speed deployment, improve end-user satisfaction through reduced latencies, and considerably reduce capital expenditure compared to rival enterprise software solutions located in remote data centres.
Lime will also be discussing some of the new applications the LimeNET CrowdCell's combination of SDR and GPP can bring to the network operator's portfolio, through its provision of a low-latency 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) air interface - even services which would otherwise require a 5G New Radio (NR) interfaces to achieve usable latencies.
Interested parties can email Lime Microsystems for more information, or read more about Nextcloud on the official website, while attendees at the conference will find Lime at Booth PG11.
About Lime Microsystems: Lime Microsystems specialises in field programmable RF (FPRF) transceivers, SDR platforms and ecosystem technology for the next generation of wireless broadband systems. These products offer an unprecedented level of configurability and allow system designers to create wireless communication networking equipment that can be set and reconfigured to run on any wireless communications frequency and mobile standard.
The LimeNET CrowdCell, created as part of the Telecom Infra Project's CrowdCell small-cell gateway initiative, combines Lime's SDR and ecosystem technologies into a one-box device combining software-defined 4G LTE capabilities with general-purpose processing to enable a new class of low-latency, high-performance cellular network applications.
About Nextcloud: Nextcloud offers the industry-leading, fully open source, self-hosted Content Collaboration Platform, combining the easy user interface of consumer-grade cloud solutions with the security and compliance measures enterprises need. Nextcloud brings together universal access to data through mobile, desktop and web interfaces with next-generation, on-premise secure communication and collaboration features like real-time document editing, chat and video calls, putting them under direct control of IT and integrated with existing infrastructure.
