Guildford UK, November 7th 2019 – Lime Microsystems is pleased to confirm its attendance at the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Summit 2019 in Amsterdam on November 13th-14th, where it will demonstrate real-world use-cases for its LimeNET CrowdCell open small cell networking solution using partner mimik’s edgeSDK platform.

The TIP Summit brings together those in the telecommunications industry who believe in the benefits of openness and interconnection rather than siloed black-box solutions that have dominated the industry in the past. Attendees will witness and experience live demonstrations of the LimeNET CrowdCell platform. A range of industry partners will showcase how their software can be used with the well-established LimeNET CrowdCell solution to bring computing to the edge of the network to address a wide variety of real-world use cases.

mimik’s edgeSDK will be demonstrated at the event, turning the LimeNET CrowdCell software-defined small-cell base station and general-purpose processing server into a fully-functional cloud server at the edge of an operator’s cellular network – reducing backhaul requirements and cloud hosting costs, improving coverage, and lowering latency compared to traditional centralised approaches.

The edgeSDK platform has been applied and been proven valuable for a range of use-cases, highlights of which will be demonstrated during the TIP Summit, including residential Internet of Things (IoT) networks, health and wellness, gaming, smart manufacturing, autonomous and controlled drone infrastructure, and automotive – an example of which is demonstrated in the video below, courtesy of mimik’s Sam Armani.

Lime is also working with mimik to integrate the edgeSDK platform into its latest LimeNET Micro platform, a low-cost low-power all-in-one software defined radio (SDR) and general-purpose processing (GPP) system ideally suited for automotive and infrastructure connectivity over GSM and NB-IoT networks.

Interested parties can email Lime Microsystems for more information, or read more about mimik’s edgeSDK on the mimik website, while attendees at the conference can see edgeSDK in action.

About Lime Microsystems: Lime Microsystems specialises in field programmable RF (FPRF) transceivers, SDR platforms and ecosystem technology for the next generation of wireless broadband systems. These products offer an unprecedented level of configurability and allow system designers to create wireless communication networking equipment that can be set and reconfigured to run on any wireless communications frequency and mobile standard.

The LimeNET CrowdCell, created as part of the Telecom Infra Project’s CrowdCell small-cell gateway initiative, combines Lime’s SDR and ecosystem technologies into a one-box device combining software-defined 4G LTE capabilities with general-purpose processing to enable a new class of low-latency, high-performance cellular network applications.

About mimik:

mimik’s platform provides discovery and direct peer to peer communication at the edge, reducing cloud hosting costs, bandwidth usage and network latency while minimising data transfer to central cloud and minimising the exposure of their data to third parties. The mimik edge cloud platform enables a much more environmentally friendly cloud with lower energy costs and reduced carbon footprint.

mimik edgeSDK is a pragmatic solution that provides a lightweight container environment for deploying microservices and enabling all computing devices to act as cloud servers, host microservices, form clusters, communicate and collaborate.
